The northeast part of WB along the foothill of Eastern Himalaya is called Dooars means Gateway. In fact it is the gateway of northeast states of India and Bhutan. This stretch of land along the foot hill from Siliguri to Cochbihar is studded with lash green acres of Tea gardens, number of Wildlife Sanctuaries, a National Park and a Tiger Reserve. Forests, Wild orchids, the rich Wildlife including Leopard, Tiger, Bison, Elephants and Indian one horn Rhino made the area most attractive to the tourists.The diversified human races including several Tribes with there individual culture and character made the area as ideal home of eco-tourism

Mahananda WLS

The Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife enthusiast’s dream. The sanctuary is located in The Himalayan foothills and the Terai region and is home to the elephant, Indian bison or gaur, tigers, leopards, sambar and cheetal. The Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over the forests of the lower catchment area of the Mahananda River and covers an area of 159.86 sq km.A short 13 km drive from Siliguri gets you to Sukna, the gateway to the sanctuary.

Gorumara National Park

Gorumara National Park is located in the Dooars (rolling hill slopes) region of Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal. This  forest is  famous for its natural population of the Great Indian one horned Rhinoceros was declared a wildlife sanctuary.
Gorumara national park is 73km from Siliguri, famous for the variety of wildlife like Elephant, Bison, Rhino, Leopard, Jungle cat etc. Permits available for different Watch Towers. Car safari available during afternoon with visit to Tribal village and witness to Tribal culture.

Chapramari WLS

Chapramari is about 30 km from Chalsa and Lataguri. A huge variety of flora and fauna covers the forests. Chapramari is famous for its Elephants and Bison. Permits available for Watch Tower.

Sumsing & Suntalekhola

81 km from Siliguri. The last words in Nature Tourism. Experience whisper with forests, mountain streams, and orange orchids.there  are two beautiful   forest bunglow in Samsing & Suntalekhola

Jaldhaka Hydel Project

Tode Tangta

Altitude 3400ft, a small village at top of the Mahananda WLS. Having cinchona plantation, one old British cottage now a Forest bunglow (Latkuthi), one can trek to Namthing Pokhri the water land and home of Salamandars (6km)Sunrise from Aahal pick is remarkable.

Jaldapara WLS

Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary, situated in Alipurduar Sub-Division of Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal, is home to a wide variety of wild life, particularly the Great Indian One Horned Rhinos. The river Torsha flows through this rain forest sanctuary which is mostly covered with tall grasses, the sanctuary encompasses a luxuriant vegetation and a rich variety of wildife. The Malangi River also flows nearby from east to west.

 Jaldapara is 130km. From Siliguri. The world famous Sanctuary known as the land of Indian one horn Rhino. Elephant safari and car safari became a tourist craze.
